Our Story
History
Yayra Glover Foods and Beverages Limited is the food processing arm of The Group, set up to encourage and engage our cocoa farmers in growing other food crops beyond the cocoa season as an alternative livelihood initiative.
It also plays a role in securing a sustainable supply of ethically sourced organic cocoa beans from our farmers. With the assurance of earning additional income for other produce during the off-season of cocoa, our farmers are encouraged to stick with us and maintain their farms' organic status. By the year 2027, we aim to establish the only certified organic cocoa primary processing factory in the subregion to process organic cocoa beans into nibs, liquor, butter, and powder for onward processing by the chocolate, cosmetic, and confectionery industries in the sub-region and beyond.
Embracing One Health
Responsible Consumption
Sitatunga Landscape and Climate Smart Peanut CREMA Project:
Focused on the Avu Lagoon region in the Volta Region of Ghana, this initiative leverages sustainable land use practices and climate-smart agriculture to promote both ecological vitality and the prosperity of local communities. Through climate-smart Peanut cultivation techniques, such as Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD), the project reduces greenhouse gas emissions, enhances crop resilience, and supports responsible agricultural practices. Additionally, the project emphasises the protection of the Sitatunga population, a unique species residing in the area, through the creation of habitat corridors and population monitoring.
Synergistic Approach:
The project's strength lies in its synergistic approach, where the Sitatunga Landscape and Climate Smart Peanut CREMA Project, the One Health integration, and the organisation of farmers for the chocolate and confectionery industry harmonise to create a comprehensive strategy. By promoting sustainable agriculture, protecting wildlife, and embracing the One Health concept, the project envisions a future where people, animals, and ecosystems coexist harmoniously.
One Health Integration:
The project is grounded in the One Health approach, which acknowledges the intricate interplay between human, animal, and environmental well-being. By incorporating One Health principles, the project fosters holistic community development and biodiversity conservation. It advocates for responsible agricultural practices, equitable livelihoods, and the preservation of ecosystems, resulting in improved community health and resilience.
